SEDATION DENTISTRY
Nothing to Fear.
At Coral Bay Smiles, we are committed to our patient’s oral health and comfort before, during, and after the patient’s visit and dental procedures. We understand the fear of coming to the dentist! This is why we ensure your visit is pleasant from the beginning!
Dental fear and anxiety keeps millions of patients away from the dentist and away from getting procedures that can help eliminate pain and infection.
For some patients, local anesthesia might not be enough. Conscious sedation is an excellent way to keep you relaxed and comfortable during your dental visit. Although you will be sedated, you as the patient will still be able to respond to questions and react to commands. Most patients with anxiety and fear of the dentist and/or for longer dental procedures or dental surgeries, conscious sedation is an excellent alternative to provide a pleasant experience for the patients while allowing your dental professional to provide the services needed.
There are several ways conscious sedation can be administered:
Nitrous Oxide, or laughing gas is considered a light form of dental sedation and highly used for even routine dental visits. The gas is inhaled through the nose and expelled through the mouth. When the procedure is over, the nitrous oxide wears off immediately with no side effects and fast recovery time.
Oral medication used for sedation purposes for dental visits usually comes in the form of a pill taken an hour before the procedure prescribed by your dentist. The patient recovery from the side effects of the sedation pill might be a bit longer. Patients are escorted to drive back home. Oral medication sedation works best for patient’s anxiety, fear of the dentist, and/orr long dental procedures.
Another type of sedation is called Intravenous or IV Sedation Dentistry. Medication is administered to the patient through the vein producing an effect much sooner. Dr. Grace Lopez is a certified oral conscious sedation dentist committed to the comfort of her patient’s. Her dedicated staff at Coral Bay Smiles will ensure you are given a pleasant experience during the needed dental procedures.
PRP & PRF DENTAL PROCEDURES
At Coral Bay Smiles, we offer the latest dental techniques to ensure our patients have the best and longer lasting results.
Platelet Rich Fibrin or commonly refered as PRF in Dentistry is an advanced procedure and technique used to dental bone, gum and implant surgical procedures.
PRF matrix is derived from the patient’s blood. This chairside, simple procedure has revolutionized the healing process during the surgical phases of bone regeneration, gum, and implant dentistry. This technique offers favorable, fast and healing results with very low risks or minimal implications.
PRF may be indicated for socket preservation immediately placed after removal of a tooth, for bone regeneration/graft procedures, during surgical implant placements, periodontal surgeries and management of post operative healing and care.
